Press Release

By Dan Margetta
Slinger, Wis., May 8—For the second consecutive week, Steve Apel drove to Victory Lane after scoring a convincing win in the 50-lap late model Mother’s Day feature event Sunday evening at the Slinger Super Speedway.

“These guys with this team build an awesome car, “Apel stated after capturing his second feature win in as many weeks, “I have to say ‘Thanks’ and ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ to my mom, I forgot to get her something, but I guess I can get something now.”

This past week has been the most painful for short track fans, drivers and officials in recent memory. A man who was a good friend, a mentor, a hero – was taken from us far too soon. A man who was one of few who transcends the mystique of short track racing will no longer be a part of our small little world.

Slinger, Wis., May 1—With ten laps to go in the Miller Lite 120, Steve Apel’s car was airborne with its front wheels off the ground, but by the time the checkered flag flew, it was parked in Victory Lane with Apel celebrating a victory in a wild season-opening event super late model feature Sunday afternoon at the Slinger Super Speedway.

“That was insane,” a noticeably excited Apel beamed afterwards, “That was the hardest race I’ve ever raced…I wasn’t sure if the car was still in one piece after I got up in the air…it was rough but it paid off.”

Miller Lite Spring Opener Sunday 4 pm

(Slinger, WI) NetwurX, the official internet provider of Slinger Speedway has recently signed on to continue their free internet program for race teams. It’s an awesome deal for any race team that follows their live electronic timing and scoring from the race track. There is no charge; all they have to do is display a decal on their race car to be eligible for the contingency program. NetwurX CEO Pete Maher understands how financially difficult it can be for some of the race teams and would like to help out again this season with the NetwurX Wireless High Speed Contingency Program. Race teams can get all their timing and scoring at Slinger Speedway through the internet and now they can do it for free. Drivers that are interested can simply stop by the NetwurX trailer in the pit area to sign up and get their free high speed wireless internet key code. For more information about NetwurX go to: www.netwurx.com NetwurX, making the NET Work for you!
