Slinger, Wis., June 24—Steve Apel steered clear of the early incidents that plagued the Keith’s Marina 75 Sunday night at the Slinger Super Speedway to capture his second super late model feature victory of the season, taking the checkered flag ahead of Rich Bickle.

“Everyone on this team is just awesome, “Apel told the crowd from victory lane after dedicating the win to his father who returned to the track after being away due to health reasons, “The car was on a rail tonight and I’m just the lucky one behind the wheel.”

Rob Braun and Jeff Holtz brought the field to the green flag and Lowell Bennett’s car immediately slowed from the outside of the second row and as Bennett drifted high in turns one and two, Dennis Prunty and Donavan Morgan ducked to the inside in possible anticipation of Bennett leaving the race track. That set up a three-wide situation in turn two and contact between Prunty and Bennett, sent Bennett’s car hard into the concrete at the exit of turn two right side first. The event was stopped under the red flag as safety personnel tended to Bennett who exited his car under his own power but entered the ambulance with a possible shoulder injury.

Slinger, Wis., June 17—Dennis Prunty drove to his third super late model feature win of the season Sunday night at the Slinger Super Speedway, holding off Lowell Bennett and Jeff Holtz to take top honors in the PMF Landscape Supply 50-lap main event.

“Let’s keep this going, “Prunty stated after climbing from his car in victory lane, “I did this for my Dad because if it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t be doing this so I have to say ‘Happy Father’s Day to him and all the other dads here tonight.”

Rob Braun jumped out to the early lead at start of the race with Jeff Holtz following in his tire tracks while Dennis Prunty and Mike Graczkowski raced alongside each other for third. Prunty used the inside to take the third position and with Graczkowski hung out in the top lane, Dale Prunty and Chris Blawat both made their way into fourth and fifth place respectively from the inside groove. With Braun remaining out front, Dennis Prunty worked the outside line to charge around Holtz for second place as Dale Prunty moved up to challenge Holtz for third while behind them, Lowell Bennett passed Chris Blawat for fifth.

Slinger, Wis., June 10—Following a daring nearly three-wide pass for the lead on lap 32, 67 year old Al Schill scored one for the veteran racers by capturing his first super late model feature win in three years in the 65-lap main event on the 65th Anniversary Reunion Night Sunday at the Slinger Super Speedway.

Reunion Night - Vintage Race Cars

(Slinger, WI) Sunday Night June 10th, Slinger Speedway will be celebrating their 65th Anniversary with $6.50 adult, senior, and student general admission tickets. It’s also reunion night with vintage modified cars and many of your favorite drivers of yesteryear. The Vintage Race Cars will be available for everyone to take a close up look on the front stretch at 6 pm before racing starts.

Slinger, Wis., June 3—With the leaders navigating their way through lapped traffic, Dennis Prunty held off Al Schill and Steve Apel to capture the victory in the Ewald Automotive 50 Sunday night at the Slinger Super Speedway, scoring his second super late model feature triumph of the season.

“I kept looking in the mirror and then was thinking ‘don’t look in the mirror…don’t look in the mirror’ because Al (Schill) was coming,” Prunty told the crowd from victory lane as a slight mist began to fall, “So far between everywhere I’ve raced this year we’ve got four wins and two seconds. My daughter put on the big carburetor this week and we’re going to go for it.”

“Me and Dennis (Prunty) were really going at it,” Schill said after his second place result, “The rain that began to fall was messing me up a bit and the tires got hot, but a driver always has to have an excuse I guess, so that’s mine.”

“It’s hard to pass twelve cars in fifty laps, “ Apel stated after charging from deep in the field to finish a close third, “I wish the race was longer because the car was really good.”

Stock car racing can be an expensive sport. Even the simplest of parts can cost so much more that one might think. Yet amazingly enough, it always seems to be those simple parts that can cost you more than the money involved. Steve Apel had just that scenario as a leaking transmission gasket in qualifying proved to be only a temporary setback.

After two subpar qualifying laps, Apel rattled off his third lap to set fast time. A few minor adjustments before the feature, and Apel was well on his way to rattling off another victory. Apel got by leader Lowell Bennett on lap 48, before holding off Dennis Prunty to win the EH Wolf Memorial Day 75 at the Slinger Super Speedway.
