(Slinger, WI) The 35th annual running of the SUPERSEAL Slinger Nationals presented by Miller Lite will feature a six-time winner, as it was recently announced that Matt Kenseth will return to Wisconsin for the prestigious event, Tuesday, July 15. After a self-imposed year off, Kenseth returns to Slinger Speedway, where he cut his short-track teeth. “I was in the stands watching Ross race last year and figured I might as well go back out and race ’em” said the 2003 NASCAR Cup Champion. “I missed running Slinger and I’m looking forward to returning.”

On the heels of seven victories and a runner-up NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point finish in 2013, Kenseth currently rides second in this year’s championship standings.

The Cambridge, Wisconsin native, Kenseth, started racing Slinger-style super late models at age 18 and had immediate success at “the world’s fastest quarter mile oval.” He scored his first SUPERSEAL Slinger Nationals win in 1994, three years before he moved south to race on the NASCAR circuits full-time.

A stout field is expected to be on hand to challenge Kenseth. Travis Sauter, who has won more than half the races he entered the past two seasons, has filed an early entry. Also making the trip to Slinger Speedway will be former Red Bud 300 winner Steve Dorer. Dorer made the long trip to Slinger pay off in 2013 with a fifth place showing. Ross Kenseth joins the band of travelers, returning to the SUPERSEAL Slinger Nationals behind the wheel of the Boyne Machine entry.

Five-time SUPERSEAL Slinger Nationals champion Lowell Bennett; 1999 Nationals champion Conrad Morgan; three-time super late model track champion Brad Mueller; and former track champions Dennis Prunty and Steve Apel are expected to carry the Slinger Speedway banner.

Last year’s event paid a record $9999 to honor the late four-time champion Dick Trickle who was famous for running number 99. Contingency awards pushed the total winnings to over $12,000 for winner Rich Bickle.
