(Slinger, WI)—Defending track champion Steve Apel and Dennis Prunty will do battle once again, in a winner take all showdown, Sunday night, September 6, at the Slinger Super Speedway as the super late model championship will be decided between the two drivers.

After his feature win this past Sunday night, Apel took a five-point advantage in the season-long standings. He’ll ride a streak that has seen him win three of the last four main events, into Sunday night.

“It’s going to come down to somebody breaking or beating the other person in the race,” said Apel. “We’ll do all of our work this week on the car so hopefully we don’t have an issue that would take us out of the race.”

Sunday night’s super late model feature is 100-laps and Prunty, who has eight feature win at the track this year including the Slinger Nationals, feels confident the extra distance will play well into his hand.

“If we qualifying first and second it’s going to come down to who beats the other guy in the feature,” said Prunty. “I know my car is good on the long run. The longer we stay green the better.”

A track championship for Apel would be his third consecutive title while Prunty is in search of his second track crown.

The late models, Area Sportsman, Heros Sandwich Shoppe Slinger bees and figure 8’s will join the super late models on the card Sunday night. Two weeks remain for those drivers in their 2015 championship chase.

In addition, the final scheduled fireworks show for the season will take place. The fireworks show will be put on by Bartolotta Fireworks – one of the premier fireworks presenters in the Midwest.

Gates open Sunday evening at 4:45 p.m. with qualifying at 5:00. Opening ceremonies are set for 6:30 with racing to follow.
