Holiday Weekend Racing a Slinger Tradition
(Slinger, WI) Memorial Day weekend at the Slinger Super Speedway traditionally ushers in a host a big summer racing events, and this weekend is no exception as E.H. Wolf presents the Memorial Day Special. The Sunday night, May 28, program features a 75-lap main event for the super late models and is always one of the bigger races of the season.
The super late models will be joined on Sunday night by a full program for the late models, Midwest sportsman, super beez, Slinger bee’s, figure 8’s and one-on-one spectator races. In honor of Memorial Day and the men and women who have fought for and supported our country, all military veterans, with ID, will receive seven dollar admission.
This Sunday night’s program will follow up on one of the most inspiring and memorable races in the tracks 70 seasons.Just under a year removed from suffering serious injuries that threatened his career, 68-year-old legendary racer Conrad Morgan served notice to the racing world that he was back as he drove to a flag to flag win in the Alan Kulwicki Memorial super late model feature event.
“There’s been a ton of work into this car since last June,” Morgan stated after the victory. “It took us eleven months to get this car where it is today and it’s the best car I’ve ever driven.” The six-time Slinger Super Speedway champion returns Sunday night with his eyes on win number two of the 2017 campaign.
Gates open Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. with qualifying at 5:10. Opening ceremonies are set for 6:30 with racing to follow. In the event of inclement weather, Monday, May 29 will serve as a rain date.
