10 Questions With….Jayden Buckley Driver of the #31 Super Beez

Why did you get into racing?
I started racing at 14 because my whole family is involved in racing. My dad used to race 4-cylinders at 141 Speedway, my stepdad still drag races in Michigan, and my uncle races on dirt.

What are your future plans?
I’m 19 years old and graduated from Slinger last year. I hope to become a nurse (RN) some day.

What do you like about Slinger Super Speedway?
This is a fun track because of the banking! It’s challenging! I also really like that we have a large group of drivers that work together; we work together like a track family.

Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?
I don’t get to travel much, but the farthest place I’ve gone is Jamaica. I liked being there and learning about their culture.

How did you pick your car number (#31)?
My dad and I have always liked “bad luck” numbers, like 13. When I played basketball, my number was always 13. When I started racing here, though, they said that they number 13 was already being used, so I flipped it around.

What is your “real job”?
I’m currently a CNA at Serenity Villa in Slinger [also one of her sponsors!], an assisted living home.

Who is on your crew?
My dad-Tom, stepmom-Ashley, Eric, Rick Schaefer, Steve, Brandon, Terri, and Matt
My crew does A LOT and I really appreciate them. We stick together and travel together [with the other cars Rick Schaefer/Todd Buckley support – see note below].

Who are your sponsors?
Creek View Landscape in Slinger, Cut-Loose Auto Body in Brown Deer, Oak Creek Automotive, Serenity Villa in Slinger, and Homeward Bound Tattoos in Slinger [who does Jayden’s racing tattoos]

What is your favorite food?
Steak, medium rare; the best is from Texas Roadhouse

Which Slinger driver do you have the most respect for?
Rick Schaefer – He’s been a huge part of teaching me about racing. He taught me where to let off on the track, and about working on my car. [Note: Rick Schaefer, with the help of Todd Buckley (Jayden’s father), has been an integral part in recruiting/supporting many racers at Slinger. Watch for a profile on him sometime this season!]
