Racing at Slinger Super Speedway Returns as 72nd Season Revs Up

Season Opener Features New Format and Super Late Model Bonus Cash

(Slinger, WI) Racing action returns to the high-banks of the Slinger Super Speedway, Sunday afternoon, April 28th as Potawatomi Hotel & Casino presents the Miller Lite Season Opener. The event kicks off the 72nd season of action at the high-banked quarter-mile oval and begins a season-long celebration of the Village of Slinger, a town celebrating 150 years of incorporation.

The super late models will again headline the Slinger Speedway season opener, but a new format will greet both fans and drivers. The super late model teams will compete in twin 50-lap features. A $2500 bonus for the top-five drivers, overall, in the twin features will be on the line, with the overall winner receiving the lion’s share of the bonus, an additional $1000.

“I’m not really sure how the twin-50’s format is going to play out,” said defending super late model track champion, Alex Prunty. “It’ll be interesting to see the intensity of the first feature, knowing that if you tear up your car in the first one, you’ll miss the second feature.”

Prunty used consistency and three feature wins to claim his first Slinger Speedway, super late model track championship in 2018, adding to a resume that includes track titles in the late model and Slinger Bee divisions.
“Our preparations for this year aren’t really any different than any other year,” said Prunty. “The entire car has been rebuilt from the engine to the rear end. We did put on a brand new Five-Star Chevy Camaro body on the car, so we’re ready and excited.”

Gates open at noon on April 28th, with opening ceremonies slated for 2:00 pm and racing to follow. A May 19th rain date has been established.
