Matt Kenseth Returns to Racing and Returns to the Slinger Nationals

Limited Number of Meet & Greet Tickets Available

(Slinger, WI) Matt Kenseth will return to his native Badger state in search of a record eighth win in the 40th annual SUPERSEAL Slinger Nationals presented by Miller Lite, Tuesday night, July 9, at Slinger Super Speedway.

The Cambridge, Wisconsin native cut his short-track racing teeth barnstorming Wisconsin ovals before moving south to compete full-time in NASCAR. Kenseth captured the 2003 NASCAR Cup Series championship and is a two-time Daytona 500 champion. But all the time, he kept his eye on the Wisconsin racing scene and the historic Slinger Nationals.

“The Nationals have always been one of the major events in all of short track racing,” said Kenseth. “Certainly, it was the one you wanted to win, growing up in Wisconsin.”

Kenseth drove his last Cup Series race at the season-finale in 2018, capping a career that produced 39 wins at the premier level of stock car racing and 29 wins in the Xfinity Series.

The last time Kenseth appeared at Slinger Super Speedway was in 2016, when he notched his seventh Nationals championship after a hard fought, late race battle with Erik Jones. With seven victories, Kenseth has rewritten the history books in the marquee event.

“It’s been a good track for me throughout my career,” recalls Kenseth. “We’ve had a lot of success there, a lot of memorable moments and I’m looking forward to going back.”

The list of previous Nationals winners includes former and current NASCAR standouts, Alan Kulwicki; Mark Martin; Dick Trickle (4 wins); Rich Bickle, Jr (4 wins); Matt Kenseth (7 wins) and Kyle Busch. The last two years, barnstorming national super late model standouts, Ty Majeski and Bubba Pollard have captured the Slinger Nationals top laurels. Matt Kenseth; Bickle, Jr; Majeski and Pollard have all committed to competing in the 2019 Nationals event.
