10 Questions With…Georgia Lacroix (“lack-roy”)

Rookie Driver of the #95 Koschkee Tile & Stone #95 Slinger Bee

How did you get into racing?
When I was little, I used to go to the races and I always wanted to do it. So a family friend always told me, “I’ll get you in a car”. That never ended up happening. Then I had a really bad soccer injury and I was like, “Racing a car still sounds pretty cool!”. So that’s how I got into it.

Why did you choose to race at Slinger Super Speedway?
It’s the closest asphalt track to my house. I’d go over the summer just to watch, and liked the speed, obviously it’s the world’s fastest quarter mile! Plus, looking at all of the families…the racing family, everyone gets along there. If you need help with your car, there is always going to be someone in the stall next to you offering to help. I really like that aspect.

Who do you need to thank?
Crew: my dad, Stephen, for getting me in it and paying for all of it. I also really need to thank our neighbor, Donny, for having late nights with us, really helping us with our problems, and getting us started with racing. Sponsors: Koschkee Tile and Stone, V and K Honey, L&M Automotive. Anyone else: My mom for being very supportive of racing. My sister for being there for me and supporting me.

What is your real job?
I am 15 and a sophomore at LakeView Technology Academy. After graduation, I’m hoping to move to Alabama to go to college.

If you could bring one fictional character to life, who would you choose and why?
Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc. because he would probably teach me how to strive as a person and how to look on the bright side of things.

How did you get your car number (#95)?
It’s Lightning McQueen’s number from “Cars”

What is your favorite food?
Ummmm…this is hard…food is pretty good
Probably a double cheeseburger. It has to be a double though. It just tastes better. And it has to be from Slinger Speedway because it’s really, really good.

What TV show(s) are you into?
I’m watching “The Ranch” and I’m also kind of watching “Community”. I like old western movies or shows; I don’t know why. They always intrigue me.

Do you remember how you felt the first time you pulled onto the track at Slinger Speedway?
I was pulling onto the track and it felt like my car was almost going sideways. I was kind of scared. My nerves were all built up, and these other cars were going fast around me.

Which Slinger driver do you respect the most?
Scott Schmies and Marty Saemann (Sullivan Racing, #14 Super Beez) – they really helped me out by selling me the car, helping out and always being there and asking if we need help.
