Uptown SLM Points Tighten Up
(Slinger, WI) Wegner Automotive and Slinger Speedway has added $5000 to the Uptown Super Late Model Purse and $1400 to the Late Model purse this Sunday for the Carl Wegner Memorial Race. The 3rd annual Carl Wegner Memorial Race remembers a man that helped many racers careers.
Current Uptown Super Late Model Points leader Rich Bickle credits Carl Wegner with jump starting his career that led all the way to NASCAR. It was 1985, I had zero money, my parts were blown up and as I was going out the door I told Carl I would see him mid-season if I had money. He said, “Back up to the door”. I backed up to the door and he put a engine in the back of the truck.
After a one-week hiatus, racing action returns to the Slinger Super Speedway, Sunday evening, August 15, with the Carl Wegner Memorial Race. The Uptown Super Late Models will headline the program and will compete in a 75-lap feature.
The Sunday evening card also features a full program for the Late Model; Sportsman; All Out-Salt Slinger Bees: Slinger Sixers; and Figure 8’s
In his final year of racing, and in search of his third Slinger Speedway super late model championship, Bickle leads Luke Fenhaus by just 24 and teammate’s RJ Braun and Steve Apel by 32 with Ryan DeStefano just 40 back in 5th place with just three races remaining.
