UPTOWN PRO LATE MODELS SET TO HEADLINE AS WEEKLY RACING BEGINS SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT SLINGER SPEEDWAY

Slinger, Wis., Weekly racing is set to begin at the Slinger Speedway Sunday afternoon May 15th as the Uptown Pro Late Models headline a full racing program featuring the Sportsman, Finish Line Sales & Service Super Beez, Siding Homz Slinger Bees, Great North Legends, Johnson and Sons Paving Bandoleros, and Figure 8’s. Spectator gates will open at Noon and qualifying for all divisions will take place at 12:30pm with the first race set to get the green flag at 2pm.

The Uptown Pro Late Model division which competed for the past several years under the Late Model/Limited Late Model moniker, receives new branding in 2022 as the drivers will compete for an increased purse paying a guaranteed minimum of $800 to win and $200 to start on Sunday afternoon as well as the remaining seven weeks the Uptown Pro Late Models serve as the headlining division in lieu of the Elite 8 Super Late Models. The purse is expected to increase as well as new sponsorship and marketing partners continue to be added.

“Our goal at Slinger Speedway is to continue with super late model racing but on the days or nights the super late models are off we are showcasing our support divisions with the Uptown Pro Late Models being the premier division many weeks, “ Slinger Speedway owner and promotor Todd Thelen said recently, “while it’s the same division we had for years, we felt it’s time to step up with a division that has a name associated with the talent, a more professional name less the high costs of super late model racing and we have the Uptown Pro Late Models.”

The Uptown Pro Late Models at Slinger Speedway are similar to the Southern Pro Late Models fans have seen race in the Southern part of the country minus high dollar components in the areas of bump stops, shock absorbers and brakes. In addition, the Southern cars race on wider 10” tires and are all powered by a 604 crate engine while the Uptown Pro Late Models at Slinger race on narrower 8’ tires and are not restricted to a single power plant as many engine combinations compete with weight adjustments. The Southern cars are eligible to compete at Slinger Speedway without the high dollar components and that along with the many drivers who compete in similar divisions at area tracks such as Dells Raceway Park, Jefferson Speedway, and Madison International Speedway provides the opportunity for strong car counts to compete at Slinger speedway for the increased purse in 2022.
