NASCAR Rookie Daniel Hemric to Make Slinger Nationals Debut

Current Cup Series Rookie Cut His Racing Teeth on Short Tracks

(Slinger, WI) Daniel Hemric, current NASCAR Cup Series rookie, will make his Slinger Super Speedway debut in the 40th annual SUPERSEAL Slinger Nationals presented by Miller Lite, Tuesday night, July 9.

The Kannapolis, North Carolina native is no stranger to short track racing, having scored series championships in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour; the Blizzard Series and Southern Super Series over the years. “Slinger is one of the best short tracks in the country—a place I’ve wanted to race at for many years,” said Hemric. “The Nationals is one of the top events and has been won by some of the best drivers in racing.”

Daniel Hemric qualified as one of the four NASCAR Xfinity Series championship finalists each of the past two years before moving up to the premier Cup Series in 2019, driving for Richard Childress Racing. Hemric is coming off of a career best fifth place finish, this past Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway.

Wausau, Wisconsin’s Wimmer Motorsports will supply the potent super late model that Hemric will campaign at the Slinger Nationals. The entry will be led, behind the scenes, by 2014 Slinger Nationals Champion, Chris Wimmer. “Slinger Nationals has always been special to me and is one of the biggest wins in my career. I’m really excited to have Daniel in our car at Slinger this year. With his abilities and my experience there, I expect us to be competitive right from the start. When a guy of his caliber wants to work with you it’s flattering and I’m excited to chase another Larry Detjens (Wimmer’s late Uncle) trophy with him,” said Wimmer.

The list of previous Nationals winners includes former and current NASCAR standouts, Alan Kulwicki; Mark Martin; Dick Trickle (4 wins); Rich Bickle, Jr (4 wins); Matt Kenseth (7 wins) and Kyle Busch. The last two years, barnstorming national super late model standouts, Ty Majeski and Bubba Pollard have captured the Slinger Nationals top laurels. Matt Kenseth; Bickle, Jr; Majeski and Pollard have all committed to competing in the 2019 Nationals event. “I’ve never raced late models in the state of Wisconsin, and I know they have a rich racing history there. I’m looking forward to going toe-to-toe with some of those guys at the Nationals this year,” said Hemric.
