Holiday Weekend Racing and Fireworks a Slinger Tradition
(Slinger, WI) Memorial Day weekend at the Slinger Super Speedway traditionally ushers in a host a big summer racing events, and this weekend is no exception as E.H. Wolf and Sons presents the Memorial Day Special. The Sunday night, May 27, program features a 75-lap main event for the Uptown super late models and is always one of the bigger races of the season.
The super late models will be joined on Sunday night by a full program for the late models, area sportsman, Slinger bee’s, figure 8’s and one-on-one spectator races. In honor of Memorial Day and the men and women who have fought for and supported our country, all military veterans, with ID, will receive free admission.
The evening also features a gigantic post-race fireworks display.
Alex Prunty captured his first super late model win of 2018, last time out, in the Alan Kulwicki Memorial. The win places Prunty third in the championship point standings and gives him momentum heading into the first extended feature of the season.
“We’ll try to keep that momentum rolling,” stated Prunty. “This place is so tough, so when you have a chance to get on a set-up and keep rolling, you need to take advantage. The extended feature also will help, it gives us more time to hopefully get to the front.”
Gates open Sunday evening at 4:45 p.m. with qualifying at 5:10. Opening ceremonies are set for 6:30 with racing to follow. In the event of inclement weather, Monday, May 28 will serve as a rain date.
