(Slinger, WI) Sunday night the Slinger Super Speedway plays host to the 22nd annual running of the Alan Kulwicki Memorial. The event honors the 1992 NASCAR Cup Champion and former Slinger Super Speedway track champion who perished in a plane crash in 1993.
Matt Kenseth, who would later capture his own NASCAR championship, scored the first Kulwicki Memorial in 1993. Last year James Swan, sporting the same #97 that Kulwicki made famous while racing at Slinger Speedway, drove to a spirited win over Rob Braun.

The super late models will be joined on Sunday night by a full program for the late models, area sportsman, Slinger bee’s and figure 8’s. In addition, the first of two scheduled roll-over contests for the season will take place.
Before the racing action begins 50,000 pennies will be up grabs to kids 11 and under. The penny grab is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
Gates open Sunday night at 4:30 p.m. with qualifying scheduled for 5:00. Opening ceremonies go off at 6:30 with racing to follow.
Fans can save money by purchasing their admission tickets in advance at B&S Liquor (Hwy 83 Hartford); Pioneer Plaza (Hwy 41 Richfield); Schaefer’s BP (Hwy 60 Slinger); or Chill-n-Fill (downtown Slinger).
