Slinger, Wis., Aug 31—Alex Prunty won the battle Sunday night at the Slinger Speedway as he held off a hard charging Grant Griesbach to win the IBEW Labor Day Weekend 100-lap Incredible Bank super late model feature however, Griesbach won the war as his second-place finish secured his first Slinger Speedway super late model track championship.

Prunty had Griesbach glued to his bumper as they threaded their way through the field and when Prunty took the lead on lap 40, Griesbach was right in his tire tracks as he advanced to second. Griesbach dogged Prunty in the second half of the race and made numerous attempts to pass as he edged the nose of his car inside Prunty’s fender upon entry into the turns. Each time though, Prunty proved to be too strong in the high lane exiting the turns and he was able to fend off the challenges. Prunty took the checkered flag about a car length ahead of Griesbach to score the win while Brad Mueller overcame a lot of adversity to finish third. All three had a chance at the track championship entering the evening but at the checkered flag, Griesbach was crowned the 2025 Incredible Bank super late model track champion followed by Prunty and Mueller.

“We’ve been working on the car and have been getting it better all year long and if it wasn’t for the week one 58.1 left side weight DQ we would’ve won our third championship and two in a row,” Prunty stated afterward, alluding to the season opening race in April where a weight infraction in post-race technical inspection cost him valuable points, “It is what it is and we finished strong, hopefully we’ll kick off next year legal after winning the opener.”

“We all knew Grant (Griesbach) had to be careful and he couldn’t spin us out,” Prunty continued, “So you did what you had to do to get the win and I just appreciate all the help from everybody to make this all possible.”
“I really wanted to win one bad but I couldn’t do it as clean as I wanted to and I would have really had to move the 11 (Prunty) into the marbles for that one,” Griesbach said after accepting the track championship following his second place finish, “I wanted to do all I could do for the win but I didn’t want to win by wrecking him because that’s just not the way to do it. At the end of the day consistency won our championship.”

“I was 9 when I started racing here and won my first race when I was 10,” the newly crowned champion continued, “I’ve been here over half my life and I tried to quit here a couple times and I just never quite could. Slinger has always been home to me and I’m finally glad I got my name in the record books here.”
Brad Mueller overcame radio problems and an early spin while racing with R.J. Braun to drive his way back to a strong third place finish which also netted him third place in the season point standings.

“What happened is we got the green flag and I had no radio, “ Mueller explained, “Finally under that caution I figured out the headset cord to my helmet got caught in my Hans Device and became disconnected. I think I pinched R.J. (Braun) up in the wall there once and I didn’t know he was there so he probably deserved to spin me but at least we beat him. A shout out goes to (car owner) Kevin Barker and this crew for sticking behind this 56-year-old man this long and we made it on the podium this year so we can’t complain about that. Congratulations to Grant (Griesbach) on his first championship.”

R.J. Braun also battled his way back from early adversity to finish a strong fourth while early leader Ryan DeStefano finished fifth. Dennis Prunty also recovered from an earlier incident to score a sixth-place finish followed by James Swan in seventh and Mitchell Haver in eighth. Mike Egan and Ryan Gutknecht completed the top ten finishers in ninthand tenth respectively.
