MAJESKI JOINS ELITE COMPANY WITH FOURTH SLINGER NATIONALS VICTORY
Ty Majeski dominated the 46th Annual Slinger Nationals, leading the final 134 laps to earn his fourth victory in the prestigious event. Majeski held off late challenges to join Trickle, Shear, and Bickle as four-time champs, trailing only Kenseth and Bennett in total wins.

Slinger, Wis., July 8 — Ty drove to a dominating victory in the 46th Annual Cobblestone Hotels Slinger Nationals presented by Lynch Buick GMC of West Bend Tuesday night for his fourth overall victory in the prestigious mid-summer event. Majeski, who led the final 134 laps of the 200-lap race, now joins legendary drivers Dick Trickle, Joe Shear, and Rich Bickle as four-time Slinger Nationals champions, good for third on the list of overall winners behind Matt Kenseth with eight and Lowell Bennett with five.
“2013 was my first Slinger Nationals and I came here with (car owner) Mike Butz and I think I was the last car to make it on time,” Majeski said from victory lane, “I think I finished sixth and I never thought looking back ten years ago that I would be standing here with four of them. It’s huge testament to how great our race car has been for a lot of years now and all the great people behind me. I might be driving but this is more of a team sport than all the other stick and ball sports.”
Majeski took the lead on lap 67 from Johnny Sauter following a rain delay and never looked back although he did have to fend off challenges from Austin Nason on restarts late in the event. Nason, who led the opening 42 laps before giving way to Sauter, finished second and stated his car was fast but just didn’t have quite enough to track down Majeski.
“We just needed to fire off a little quicker there,” Nason told the crowd afterwards, “We just got too tight and I feel like fifteen or twenty laps in we were kind of equal (to Majeski) but we just couldn’t make up ground. We had a good car but just needed a little bit more.”
Andrew Morrissey battled all race long and scrapped his way to a third-place finish.
“It was tough battling out there,” Morrissey stated, “It just kept going the wrong way and we struggled for ten laps and think we got the tire pressures too low and fell back to eighth. Once the tires came back up, we were decent.”
Derek Kraus had to make the field through the qualifying race but he quickly advanced forward to challenge the leaders and ended up with a strong fourth place result while Casey Johnson also raced with the front runners all night before finishing fifth. Luke Fenhaus suffered a flat tire and broken sway bar early in the race but rebounded nicely to finish in the sixth position while Penn Sauter made his Slinger Nationals debut with a strong seventh place effort. Gabe Sommers crossed the finish line in eighth place and Johnny Sauter finished ninth after leading laps 43-66 in the race. R.J. Braun completed the top ten finishers with a tenth-place result. Pole-sitter Bubba Pollard and local favorites Alex Prunty and Brad Mueller were eliminated early on when they were swept up in a chain reaction multi-car incident on lap 48.
Ty Majeski was the fastest qualifier after he turned in a lap in 11.075 seconds to lead the tight field where the top sixteen qualifiers who locked into the race needed to go faster than 11.202 seconds. Those outside the top sixteen had to qualify in through a 30-lap qualifying race which was won by Derek Kraus over Max Kahler, Derek Thorn, and Kendall Kreyer as all four transferred into the main event.
Brady Bill outdueled Ryan Gutknecht in the final turn of the final lap to win the highly competitive 40-lap Uptown Motorcars late model feature. Bill took to the outside lane in turn four on the final lap and was able to power off just enough to edge Gutknecht at the checkered flag for the win. Gutknecht finished a close second followed by Ryan Weyer in third. Jeff Holtz and Jerry Mueller rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth respectively. Robbie Rucks took the checkered flag in sixth place followed by Jon Reynolds Jr. in seventh and Tom Berens in eighth. Justin Okruhlica was ninth and Tyler Hromadka finished tenth.
