How did you get into racing?
Father Harold pushed Midgets at Sun Prairie. I started in a go-kart at Whitehorse’s track in south Madison and went from there.
What do you like about Slinger Super Speedway?
There is racing all the way around; you never get a break or lay off as you do some speedways.
Who do you want to thank from your Slinger days?
Crew: Son Jared, Tom Reible, Randy Schade, John Sherwood, the Bares brothers and many more.
Sponsors: Many through the years, from CircusCircus Disco, WISN, and of course Reco Incorporated.
What are you up to these days?
Busy as always. Winding down from running our family crane service, passing the reins to the next generation. Spending time with family and watching local racing.
Did you have any pre-race traditions/superstitions?
Green cars were considered taboo and always had shelled peanuts in our pits-another taboo.
What is your favorite racing memory at Slinger?
Winning the championship, late nights all making it back to the Madison area to work early Monday am’s. That, and the Nationals.
How did you get your car number?
Originally raced number 9 – showed up at a race and I was the third nine, so they changed it to 93.
What was your first street car?
A red 1957 Ford convertible
What was more special to you, winning a race at Slinger, or seeing your son (Jared – Stingers) and grandson (Zach Riddle – Pro Lates) win a race at Slinger?
Absolutely watching my son and grandson win.
