BRAUN BROTHERS FINISH 1-2 ON JOHNSON AND SONS PAVING REMEMBRANCE NIGHT AT SLINGER
R.J. Braun claimed victory in the Uptown Motor Cars Late Model feature at Slinger Speedway during Johnson and Sons Paving Remembrance Night, beating brother Billy Braun. Other night winners included John DeAngelis, Carl Benn, Bobby Frisch and Andrew Borntreger.
Slinger, Wis., May 31—R.J. Braun won the 55-lap Uptown Motor Cars Late Model feature Sunday night at the Slinger Speedway, taking the checkered flag ahead of his brother Billy Braun on Johnson and Sons Paving Remembrance Night.
R.J. Braun took the lead with 13 laps to go after Evan Hassler and Dennis Prunty tangled while battling for the lead and collected third place Zack Riddle in the process. R.J. Braun maintained the lead as racing resumed while Zach Prunty began to track him down for the top spot as Billy Braun advanced into third. Zach Prunty was right on Braun’s bumper when the final caution flag waved when Ryan Gutknecht slid through the infield while battling with Jakob Hassler over seventh. Billy Braun was able to advance into second on the restart as Zach Prunty’s car appeared to be better on the long runs. R.J. Braun remained out front and led the final laps to capture the victory over Billy Braun and Zach Prunty. Mike Held and Jon Reynolds Jr. raced among the front runners for the entire event and took the checkered flag in fourth and fifth place respectively. Zack Riddle rebounded from the earlier incident and drove his damaged car to a sixth place finish ahead of Alex Lopacinski in seventh. Jakob Hassler finished eighth and Ryan Gutknecht crossed the finish line in ninth while T.J. Graczkowski finished tenth.
Dennis Prunty won the opening Late Model heat race while Tyler Hromadka was the winner of the second heat race. Jon Reynolds Jr. was the winner of the fast dash and Tom Berens was the fastest qualifier with a qualifying lap of 11.929 seconds.
John DeAngelis won the 25-lap Raceway Bar and Grill 602 Crater main event over Michael Lange and Danny Church. Dan Thompson finished fourth and Larry Johnson was fifth. Michael Lange was the winner of the 602 Crater heat race and John DeAngelis was the fastest qualifier after turning in a qualifying lap in 12.161 seconds.
Carl Benn was the winner of the 25-lap Finish Line Bar and Grill Slinger Bees feature while Todd Snow finished second and Kendall Becker was third. Glen Bush and Nathan Lemberger rounded out the top five finishers in fourth and fifth place respectively. Slinger Bees heat races were won by Carl Benn and Brandon Tackes while Marty Tackes set fast time after putting down a 15.027 second lap in qualifying.
Bobby Frisch won the 25-lap 189 Customs Crown Vic feature over Justin Woller and Todd Beier. Eddie Dobraski finished in fourth place and Mason Obermeyer finished fifth. Eddie Dobraski took top honors in the Crown Vic heat race over Matt Rose and Bobby Frisch.
Andrew Borntreger muscled his way around Dillon Schwanbeck in the final corner of the final lap to win the 25-lap Great North Legends feature. Ayron Brockhouse also slipped by Schwanbeck on the run to the checkered flag to finish second, as Schwanbeck had to settle for third. Mark Anderson was fourth and Kooper Heintz finished fifth. Great North Legends heat races were won by Carter Stein and Andrew Borntreger while Dillon Schwanbeck’s qualifying time of 13.159 seconds nailed down fast qualifier honors.
The Johnson and Sons Paving Bandolero 15-lap feature was won by Oliver Weinkauf over Harley Johnson and Axel Oldenhoff. Emily Billings finished in fourth place ahead of Ransom Tate was fifth. Ace Oldenhoff and Harley Johnson were the winners of the Bandolero heat races and Oliver Weinkauf was the fastest qualifier after circling the speedway in 14.329 seconds.
