EVAN HASSLER WINS ON GRADUATION NIGHT AT SLINGER
Evan Hassler dominated the Late Model feature at Slinger Speedway, leading all 55 laps to victory over Zack Riddle and Tom Berens. Other winners include Nick Bruley in Bobcat Plus Sportsmen, Marek Pankow in Super Beez, Mason Wilcott in Slinger Bees, Mick Ellis in American Super Cup, and Carl Trapp.
Slinger, Wis., June 7—Evan Hassler turned back all challengers to win the 55-lap Uptown Motor Cars Late Model feature Sunday night at the Slinger Speedway, leading all the laps en route to victory over Zack Riddle and Tom Berens.
“We finally got it,” Hassler exclaimed from victory lane eluding to an earlier apparent victory that was negated in post-race tech when he had is cellphone in his car, “the pockets are empty tonight except for a couple hundred dollar bills.” “I knew I had a good spot,” Hassler continued referring to his front row starting position, “I saw (Zack) Riddle behind me and he’s been quick all year and I was a little bit worried about that but I knew I could get him on the outside.”
“That’s cool and what we needed,” Zack Riddle said after finishing second, “I thought the tempo was fast and backed it down a little and thought for sure we would get another caution but it never came. We got something to work with and will try to tune it up a little better.”
“It was a struggle and popped our brand new left rear tire in qualifying,” Tom Berens explained following his third place result, “So we didn’t have the best tires on the car but it feels good to get back on the podium.”
Zach Prunty drove to a fourth place finish and Billy Braun completed the top five finishers in fifth. Kooper Guralski finished in the sixth position and Mike Held was seventh. Jon Reynolds Jr. finished eighth followed by J.J. Vanderloop and Ryan Gutknecht in ninth and tenth place respectively.
Ryan Weyer won the first Late Model heat race and Del Schuler was the winner of the second Late Model heat race. Tom Berens won the Late Model fast dash and Jon Reynolds Jr. was the fastest qualifier after posting a 11.906 second qualifying lap.
Nick Bruley and Brady Held put on the best race of the evening for the 25-lap Bobcat Plus Sportsmen main event as Bruley barely edged Held for the victory. Tom Elsinger Jr. finished third followed by Bill Prietzel in fourth and Jay Kalbus in fifth. Brady Held won the Sportsmen heat race and Nick Bruley set fast time with a qualifying lap of 12.692 seconds.
Marek Pankow won the 25-lap Outdoor Dock and Lifts Super Beez feature over Nick Schmidt and Jose Santacruz. Brandon Tackes crossed the finish line in fourth and Morgan Zerwinski finished fifth. Nick Schmidt won the Super Beez heat race and Al Strobel took top honors in qualifying with a lap time of 13.621 seconds.
Mason Wilcott drove to victory in the 25-lap Finish Line Bar and Grill Slinger Bees feature, taking the checkered flag ahead of Marty Tackes and Carl Benn. Todd Snow finished fourth and Dominic Matts was fifth. Slinger Bees heat races were won by Nathan Lemberger and Mason Wilcott and Ricky Gebhard was the fastest qualifier after circling the speedway in 15.111 seconds.
The American Super Cup Series 25-lap feature was won by Mick Ellis over Oliver Cummings and Greg Stanley. Giovanni Sallee drove to a fourth-place finish while Camden Grommes finished fifth. Giovanni Sallee and John Kirsch each claimed victories in the American Super Cup Series heat races and Greg Stanley’s 14.945 second qualifying lap earned him fast qualifier honors.
Carl Trapp won the Spectator Elimination races driving his Chevy Corvette to the win over five other competitors.
